An email sent to Dinamalar by Dr. Arthanari Prabhuraj from Chennai claims that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s victory in two recent Assembly by-elections reflects voter fatigue with established parties.
The writer argues that major parties failed to rethink their political approach even after electoral setbacks, and says years of governance that did not engage respectfully with the BJP-led Union government also contributed to public discontent.
Citing recent public interactions, the email praises Chief Minister Vijay for what it describes as a balanced approach toward national leaders. It notes that he hosted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during a Chennai visit, and separately received Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport, accompanying him through his arrival and departure.
The writer adds that Vijay presented Tamil Nadu’s needs to the Prime Minister in English in a way that was clearly understood, and contrasts this with what he calls earlier leaders’ failure to prioritise state requirements.
The email also points to Vijay meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to seek Krishna river water for Tamil Nadu, and says the Chief Minister is pursuing reforms while staying on the “right route” for the state.
