Tamil Nadu has issued a warning to government employees that directly submitting petitions to ministers, MLAs or the Chief Minister’s special cell for service-related requests could lead to disciplinary action.
In a circular, Rajasekar, Additional Director in the Employment and Training Department, said some staff working in offices under the department have been approaching political offices and higher authorities directly for transfers, promotions and other personal requests, without following the prescribed administrative channel.
The circular cited the Tamil Nadu Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, stating that employees should not attempt to secure favourable orders or concessions by bringing in external influence, political influence or any unofficial method in matters related to their service.
Employees were instructed to raise grievances only through proper official procedures, routing applications through their office head or departmental leadership. Any violation would be treated as a breach of Conduct Rule 18 and could result in disciplinary proceedings.
