RSS held route marches and public meetings across Tamil Nadu on Sunday to mark Vijayadashami and the organisation’s 100th year. Events were reported in more than 100 locations statewide, with marches conducted in over 45 places including district headquarters and major towns.
In Chennai, marches were held in areas such as Egmore, Tiruvottiyur, Kolathur, Korattur, Ayyappanthangal, Medavakkam and Chromepet. Organisers said some processions continued even amid heavy rain, and participants were welcomed by members of the public with flower showers in a few places.
A key march in Chennai began around 4 pm near the Ramada Hotel in Egmore and concluded at Rajarathinam Stadium, followed by a public meeting. Swami Apavargananda Maharaj, editor of the magazine Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam, attended as a special guest and delivered a benediction.
Addressing the gathering, RSS South India executive committee member Anand Raghunathan said various forces were conspiring to “defeat” the nation and the RSS, but claimed that even critics would eventually come to accept the organisation. He also spoke about unity among Hindus and said the RSS was founded with the aim of advancing the country in all fields while continuing with the same objectives for the past 100 years.
