Dubai in the UAE is set to unveil what is being described as the world’s first walkway made from 24-carat pure gold, with the opening expected within the next two months.

The emirate has long positioned itself as a global hub for business and tourism, and is especially known for its gold trade. With no tax on gold and jewellery purchases and relatively low levies on imported gold, prices are often lower than in many other countries.

This pricing advantage draws both tourists and investors to Dubai for gold buying. To strengthen the sector, a dedicated gold sales district was launched in January this year in the Deira area.

The district hosts more than 1,000 retailers linked to gold, jewellery, wholesale trade and investment. The upcoming gold corridor is being promoted as the world’s longest 24-carat gold walkway, aimed at enhancing Dubai’s “gold city” image and attracting more visitors.
