The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said the very severe cyclonic storm “Arnab” over the central-west Bay of Bengal moved northwest and crossed the coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam along the Andhra Pradesh–Yanam coast early on October 28.

The system is expected to continue weakening. The RMC noted that it could further weaken into a cyclonic storm within the next six hours.

Separately, an atmospheric circulation is prevailing over South Andaman and adjoining areas. The weather office said a low-pressure area may form over the same region within the next 24 hours.

For Tamil Nadu, Karaikal and Puducherry, light to moderate rain is likely at a few places from October 28 to November 3. The RMC added that Tiruvallur district may receive heavy rain on November 3, while the Western Ghats districts could see light to moderate showers at isolated locations.
