New Delhi: Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who had been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, recently completed his term. He was not given another term, triggering speculation in political circles.
Meanwhile, L Murugan, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, resigned from his Union minister post and also stepped down as an MP. His resignation has created a vacancy.
With the seat falling vacant, a by-election is expected to be held soon.
The BJP has announced that Hardeep Singh Puri will contest the Rajya Sabha bypoll from Madhya Pradesh.
