The BJP’s national leadership has drawn up plans to counter what it describes as a growing social media campaign in northern states projecting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay in a positive light. As part of this effort, the party has begun focusing on law-and-order issues in Tamil Nadu.

According to the report, Vijay leads the Thaveka government with the support of parties including the Congress and VCK. His electoral victory is said to have created a wider impact beyond Tamil Nadu, with attention extending to other southern states and parts of the North.

The article notes that reels and videos praising the government’s initiatives have been widely circulated online, including street-interview style clips where people are shown naming Vijay as the “best chief minister.” The BJP says it intends to break this narrative in northern states.

In a first step, the BJP posted a video on its official social media handle criticising the state’s law-and-order situation. The video questioned the government over incidents such as the reported escape of 17 inmates from Theni prison and claims of children going missing across the state.

Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, in remarks cited in the report, also referred to recent crimes in Chennai, including an alleged attack at a Royapettah biryani shop and a daylight killing in Adyar followed by celebratory reels. He accused the government of failing to ensure public safety and urged immediate action to strengthen policing.
