Minister Ramesh on Tuesday criticised the DMK, alleging that its leaders would “say anything” for political gain. Speaking to reporters in Tiruchy, he took aim at former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s remarks that there is no safety anywhere in Tamil Nadu.
Referring to the DMK’s earlier slogan of a “dawn regime”, Ramesh said the public had “sent them home” because there was “no dawn” in that administration.
The minister also addressed a civic issue involving Srirangam Yatri Nivas, stating that the facility has to pay about Rs 3 crore in tax to the Tiruchy Corporation. He said discussions are under way with the Corporation Commissioner and that talks will be held to reach a solution without affecting anyone.
On the Srirangam Ranganathar Temple, Ramesh said that due to rains, cement plaster had fallen off in a few places on the Rajagopuram. Officials have inspected the affected spots, and instructions have been issued for a complete inspection of the tower.
