Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister Srinath visited the Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Thoothukudi and offered prayers, this time following the prescribed procedures for entry and worship.

According to the report, the minister—who is a Christian—had earlier drawn controversy during a visit on October 10 for not signing the declaration stating faith in Hinduism, even as he was allowed to have darshan. The episode triggered criticism of officials who permitted the visit without obtaining the form.

The latest visit took place alongside a preparatory review meeting for the Kandha Sashti festival, scheduled to be held from November 10 to 21. The meeting was chaired by Collector Vishu Mahajan, with the minister participating.

During the temple visit, Srinath reportedly asked officials for the pledge form and signed it as required. He also ensured that accompanying Christian functionaries from the TVK signed the declaration before they were taken in for darshan.
