Iran has given a “green signal” to Indian commercial ships to sail through the Strait of Hormuz without any restrictions. The decision comes at a time when conditions suggest that war could break out again between the United States and Iran.

According to the report, efforts by the countries mediating between the two sides to prevent a renewed conflict have yielded results. Iran had earlier announced that it would soon reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

As a key part of this move, Iran issued an official announcement permitting ships from India, China, Iraq and Qatar to use the waterway.

Amir Hayat Moghadam, deputy director of Iran’s national security and foreign policy committee, said ships from all four countries can travel without the threat of war. He added that transit fees apply to ships from Iran, India and China, while Qatar is exempt.
