Don’t squeeze the mango into juice: CJI in PMK symbol dispute
New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India, Justice Suryakant, on Monday made a pointed remark in the ongoing dispute within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), asking founder S Ramadoss and party leader Anbumani Ramadoss not to “squeeze the mango into juice”. The case relates to the Election Commission’s decision to allot PMK’s “mango” symbol to Anbumani. Challenging this, Ramadoss has approached the Supreme Court, arguing that when internal party disputes arise, the usual practice is to freeze the symbol, and that even the draw-of-lots method was not followed.
